On the 19th May the Shedders will be swapping their keyboards for paddles as they compete in the Annual Martin House Dragon Boat race at Roundhay Park in Leeds.
Martin House is a charity that was established in 1987 by Rev Richard Seed, which provides hospice care for children across Yorkshire. It provides family-led care to children with life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses, either at the hospice or in families’ own homes.
Services offered include planned respite care, emergency care, symptom control, community care, end of life care and bereavement support. The charity also supports families whose child has died from life-limiting condition but did not access hospice care.
With our resident musician James Marchant on the drum and some (limited) experience of Dragon Boat racing in the team, our main aims are to stay dry, have some fun and raise some money for a great charity. Our team is, imaginatively, called ‘Pull Request’ but we are still open to suggestions on that front… There will be a range of other activities and food and drink on the day, so please come along to support us and say hi!
Martin House is a charity that is very close to several Shedders hearts, as such we would be hugely grateful for your support to help us achieve our goal of raising £1,000 for the charity. We still have a way to go to meet our target, so any help is massively appreciated.
